Oracle has acquired ZenMicro for $3.6 billion.
The software developer will work with Oracle on its cloud computing business and will have the option to join the Oracle enterprise.
ZenMicro will be based in Boston, where the company was founded in 2004.
The deal comes at a time of turmoil for Oracle, as it is trying to find a way to stay afloat as the technology company has struggled to meet demand for its cloud-based software.
Last month, Oracle announced it was closing an acquisition of software developer Red Hat that had been planned for the coming year.
The deal was valued at $2.7 billion, and the transaction will be completed by the end of 2018, the company said in a statement at the time.
