Corsair’s latest flagship desktop motherboard has been the subject of many questions and rumors.
Now, the company has confirmed that it is indeed building a new motherboard for the next generation of PCs.
In an interview with Ars Technica, CEO and founder Tony Szabo says that his company’s upcoming products will feature the same components that were on the new K95, a $400 motherboard that features a 12-core CPU, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, an Intel HD Graphics 530 GPU, and 128GB of storage.
“We have a great team, and we’re going to make something special,” Szabo said.
“And we’re not going to just make a motherboard.
We’re going a little bit different.”
The new boards will feature all the hardware and software features of the K95.
“What we’re looking at now is bringing the technology to a whole new platform,” Szabo said.
The new boards include a 10-pin connector and a dedicated power connector.
The company will also introduce its own motherboard adapter that will allow the new boards to use the same motherboard adapter found on other products like the X99 and X99 Pro.
Szabo also confirmed that the new motherboard will be released sometime in 2019.
As for when the new product will arrive, Szabo told Ars Technic that he didn’t have any immediate plans to reveal that at this time.
“I don’t want to put pressure on people or scare them,” he said.
That said, he did promise that the next-generation boards will be a “more elegant design.”
