The software developers who built the popular car rental apps Uber and Lyft have a new rival: The Car Rentals app, developed by Car Rental Services.
The company announced the news on its website Thursday.
“Car Rental’s new app will help you stay connected to your rental car when you’re away,” Car Renter Services said in a press release.
“And it will be free.”
The Car Rentals app will offer a suite of car rental options, including rental of up to two cars, and the ability to choose between Uber and Car Rents cars, which include cars with driverless features.
In addition, the company will offer “smart car parking” to help customers find a safe and convenient parking spot, the release said.
The CarRental app also includes a number of car-sharing features, including parking at restaurants, clubs, bars, grocery stores, movie theaters, and public transportation.
The app will be available on Android, iOS, and Windows phones.
The launch comes as Uber and other popular car-rental apps face growing competition from Google and Apple.
Car R Rentals, however, is a company with deep roots in the rental industry.
The San Francisco-based company is headquartered in San Francisco and has offices in Portland, Oregon, and Boston.
Its business model is similar to that of Car Rent.
The startup has raised $25 million in venture capital, with a $3 million investment from Sequoia Capital, among others.
The move is also part of a push to expand into new markets.
In January, Car Rrents launched a service called Car Rented.
CarRent, which is now available for both iPhone and Android devices, allows users to book rides through an app that can be accessed from anywhere in the world, including on their smartphones.
Users can reserve a car for $2 per day, which works out to $2,500 per month, according to Car Renton.
Car Renting is currently available for iPhone, but the company said Thursday that it plans to expand its services to Android.
For now, the Car R tenant-renting app only works on Android.
“The Car Rent app is our best yet, and we’re excited to be working with Car RENT on a wide range of features and enhancements to make Car Renting the perfect partner for our customers,” Car Rent said in the release.
